Vegetable Moong Dal Soup for Babies
Ingredients:
- 2 tablespoon moong dal, washed and drained
- ½ cup of chopped or grated vegetables of your choice. ( I have used , carrots, bottle gourd and potato)
- Pepper powder to taste
- Few drops of lemon juice (optional)
Method:
1. Heat water in a sauce pan. Add the moong dal and chopped vegetables to it.
2. Boil or pressure cook until well cooked.
3. Puree either with a hand blender or in a grinder jar. Transfer the puree to a sauce pan (if using blender). Dilute with water.
4. Season with black pepper and give it a boil. Turn off the flame.
5. Add few drops of lemon juice if desired. Serve warm.
Vegetables like bottle gourd, carrot, potato, tomato can be either stir fried in a little ghee and then cooked with the washed and soaked moong dal or can be boiled with the dal straight away. You can try either method to see which one your baby likes. The spices make this a comforting light soup for babies. You can also skip the pepper and add a pinch of jeera powder instead.
