When discussing a new mom’s baby, those adorable chubby cheeks often become the focal point along with the question about the baby’s birth weight. Birth announcements proudly state details like, ‘Baby Alice, born on 1 May, weighing a healthy 3.5 kg.’ From the very beginning, a baby’s weight and those cute chubby cheeks become significant topics
And this association between health and weight continues as the child grows, sometimes into his or her teens! And Indian Moms seem to have a special obsession with their children’s weight. I personally think there are two reasons to this – 1) India has a history of a high rate of infant mortality, and one of the main reasons is undernourishment 2) Indians are known for their high rate of giving unsolicited opinions.
How do I know this? From the huge number of emails that fall into my inbox everyday – all asking the same question “How can I increase my baby’s weight in a healthy way?”
And that is the million dollar question that led to the much-more-reasonably-priced Chubby Cheeks Cookbook!
The Chubby Cheeks Cookbook – The Answer to your Child’s Weight Problems!
For most of us who are struggling with weight loss, putting on weight may seem like something that happens on it’s own, without any effort. However, it’s different with babies and toddlers – the former have restrictions on what they can eat, and the latter make up their own restrictions.
So the obvious solution is to feed your child high calorie foods, so that whatever little they eat will help to add on the kilos. However, a diet of ice cream, cookies and fast food will certainly increase your child’s weight, but at the cost of health. What’s more, it can set the stage for a lifetime of binge eating or addiction to fast food.
That’s why it’s important to make sure that what you’re feeding your baby fulfills some criteria – it’s made of natural, unrefined ingredients, it’s appropriate for the baby’s age and it addresses all of baby’s nutritional needs. Trying to find ingredients or recipes that check all these boxes can be tough, especially in a world where processed foods are practically taking over the planet.
That’s why I decided that it was up to me to step up, put on a cape and save all the poor Moms out there. Being a doctor and having a doctor husband, I knew the nutritional part of the equation. My Mom and Mom in law gave me a whole lot of information passed down the generations regarding traditional baby food. This formed the other part of the equation that led to the final sum of The Chubby Cheeks Cookbook.
My team and I have been working on this relentlessly for several months now, and the fruit of our labor is now presented before you. In the Chubby Cheeks Cookbook, you’ll find answers to all the questions running through your head. Whether it’s related to when to introduce what to your baby, recipes based on those ingredients or cooking techniques, you’ll find it all here. Yes, my baby is pretty smart!
So what are you waiting for? Go here and get the book – you’ll receive the download link as soon as you place your order. Do check it out – and let me know what you think!!

Hi Dr. Hema,
I have been following your blog for close to 2 years now and have tries many of your recipes for my daughter who is going to turn 3 in couple of months. Really appreciate your efforts and knowledge.. It is extremely helpful for all parents struggling with ideas to feed the kids a balanced diet.
I am writing to you today to see if you can advise me and help me deal with my little one’s eating problems. She is very choosy about what she wants to eat and has a very limited menu and will not experiment beyond that. Anything new is rejected upfront! And the other serious problem is she does not eat fruit of any kind… no apples no bananas no mangoes no grapes… nothing at all.
I try making kulfi, smoothies, mash the fruits and add to custards which again is not consumed without a lot of struggle!
The doctor says do not force, let her choose, she will decide. But each growing day, she keeps getting more firm on rejections..
And of course there are is the weight problems.. she is underweight .. on the bottom line of the growth chart in weight.
Is there any way out? When she was less than an year old she used to chew on apple, watermelon and mangoes.. that was just that one summer.. I am really worried and feel so helpless at times..
Thank you..
A worried Mom!
