I have two children aged (girl) 1 year 9 months and (boy) 10 months. I am a working mother. I always have a constant fear if i am not feeding the children.
This is what i follow
for the girl( one and half year)
1) milk (one cup) around 6 30 in morning
2) porridge (1 cup ) (made with water and milk)around 10 30
3) dhal rice with some vegetable (1 30 pm)
4) porridge (made with water and milk) around 6 pm
5) dhal rice or curd rice with vegetables 8-9 pm
6) milk in the night 11: 30
for the boy
1) porridge (made with milk and water) areound 10 -11
2) dhal rice with some vegetable ( mashed in mixie ) (1:30pm)
3) porridge (made with water and milk) around 6 pm
4) dhal rice or curd rice with vegetables 8-9 pm
5) milk in the night areoun 11:30 (1/2 cup)
he breast feeds 3 times in a day for 20 minutes each.
porridge ( ragi, wheat, rice, moong dhal, ground nut, sago,)
some times i give both of them banana when it is available.
Is this a good schedule or should I change. I dotn have any helpers and I come home to feed my children. Can you suggest me something.
1. You can give porridge once in a day, and in that too try adding a fruit like banana or apple or pear, you can even add dry fruits powder
2. i can see that almost all the foods are semisolid, that will make them a fussy eater later on, so what you can do is
* For both of them in the morning try giving them tiffin like pancakes, dosa, just cut the dosa into small strips and place them in a plate and allow them to make a mess ( I know you don’t have time to do this, but start atleast once a day like this)
* There are lot of easy finger food recipes in the blog, try making any easy ones atleast twice a week and allow them to eat by themselves.
For more info on food charts, see the appropriate links below, you don’t have to follow the below same to same but atleast try to follow 3 meals a day like this
Hello doctor,
I am so happy to see all the recipes that you posted according to baby’s month 🙂
Lucky to come across such useful site like this .
I started giving my baby solids when he was 5 months one week , but my pediatrist suggested to wait till 6 months , my mother in law insisted to start so…
Started feeding him ready food called ‘first bites’ rice , he was OK with it n later introduced him home made ragi malt which he did not like so again I started him first bites rice+dal, after which he started having loose motion n red n sour bum!!! I don’t know how s it because of the food? Tried boiled n mashed apple too he just hated it!!! What can I do for his loose motion… Little worried!!! He is 6 months now.
Hi Olive, you are already subscribed , can you check your spam folder, a total of 15 newsletters and charts have been already sent to your email id, do check and get back to me, or subscribe with a different email address like gmail or yahoo
Hi hemapriya,
Thank you for the suggestion, I stopped rice dal together giving him only rice , ragi, carrot at different times, still he gets around 6_8 bowel moments a day mostly its runny what could be the reason???
And also let me know is it OK to continue ‘first bites’ ready food? Thank you
Hi pallavi, it might be the normal peristaltic bowel movement, so don’t worry about it, I haven’t used First Bites food, so I don’t know much about it, sorry couldn’t help you
Thanks a lot … I have downloaded the recipe book for baby. I m really glad that i came across your website. I will definately try to give change to my 15 months old baby by making new recipes. Once again thanks mam…
Hello mam, my daughter is 20 months old now but her weight is 9.5kg only. What should I gave her to increase her weight although ma sha Allah she is active.
Hi hema, my son is 7 months. I’m giving him salted ragi porridge on a daily basis once. Is it harmful for him to digest? Wat can I mix with it? He’s little constipated too.
My daughter is 2 years and 1month old. She is very fussy in eating her meals and while drinking milk too. Lot of gas formation also happens and as a result she has a bad problem of farting and foul smell from mouth. Please guide me on how to take care of her nutrition. Also we are pure vegetarians.
No, don’t start with cerelac, start with dal ka paani, please reply to the email which has been sent to you with your baby age , every month food charts will be delivered to your inbox

Hi Pallavi, i would suggest to stop the dal and give rice alone for few days, then start with dal water for few days and then mix rice and dal
