Sterilizing baby feeding equipment, such as bowls and spoons, is crucial when introducing solids to your little one. Finally, I have created a video guide on how to sterilize baby feeding equipment, with my husband as the cinematographer. Although the voice may not be clear (please excuse me as a first-timer!), I have provided detailed written instructions below the video. Learn the best techniques to sterilize baby feeding equipment for a hygienic feeding routine.
How to Sterilize Baby Feeding Equipment and Utensils
1. Take a wide vessel with a handle.
2. Heat water till it comes to a boil.
3. Since I use a Mixie jar for pureeing my daughter’s food, I sterilized the mixie jar too.
4. Pour the hot water into the mixie jar and close it with a lid.
5. Now drop the feeding items like cup, spoons into the hot water and cover them with a lid.
6. Leave it for 10 minutes.
7. After 10 minutes remove the items one by one and you are ready to start feeding your little one 🙂

I know every doctor is different, however my doctor has recommended that washing my 7 month old baby’s utensils with RO water is fine. However her bottles need to continue to be sterilized and she needs to be given only boiled water for drinking. I started doing this (using RO for washing) after alot of convincing to myself and its working fine. it’s hassle-free and I don’t have to think 3 times a day to boil and wash her utensils.
Dr Hemapriya says
Hi Bani,
Yes every doctor is different, Good to know about your suggestion 🙂

is it safe to use tupperware bowl for baby feeding? Is it safe to put tupperware product in hot water to sterilize? for how much days sterilization is required?
Dr Hemapriya says
Hi Varsha,
It is better to use BPA free Plastic bowls for babies or use plain stainless steel bowls for babies, I am not so sure if tupperware is BPA free
Helen says
After the water gets boiled should we switch of stove and then drop utensils
Dr Hemapriya says
Yes, the stove should be switched off and then the utensils must be placed inside
Shruthi Poovani says
Is it d same for Phillips bottles i.e boil d water & then off d gas & place d bottles? Also how long can d sterlised bottles b safe to use if immersed in d same water? During travelling can we carry the sterlised utensils without d water in which it was sterlised?
Dr Hemapriya says
Hi Shruthi,
Please use the guidelines of the particular brand while sterilizing. Its not necessary to sterilize the unused bottle again if kept in hygienic condition.
