It’s exciting when kids start using their crayons and drawing, isn’t it? Of course, we’re talking about when their creativity is focused on the correct place – paper and not walls! Soon you get little cards with “I luv you Momy” or beads arranged on a pipe cleaner, which is their version of a caterpillar. It’s adorable, but then there are only so many cards and caterpillars you can store! Especially in today’s world when people are struggling with space, it’s just not practical to hoard ALL of your child’s artwork. I know many Moms wish there was a solution where they could hold on to all these cute memories, without their home turning into a junk yard! Well, it looks like our prayers have been answered, with the cool new Plowns app!
The Plowns app is a platform for parents, teacher and even schools to store kids’ art work. And if you think your child’s work is just going to lie stagnant there, that’s not the case. Plowns allows you to share your pictures with the world, and you can see what others have shared as well.
How it works
To start using the Plowns app, you need to first install the app. You can login through multiple options, like Google, Facebook, email or phone. Create an account by entering in your details and you’re in!
You can edit your profile once you’re logged in. Uploading your child’s artwork is easy enough. You can either take a picture on your phone or upload a photo that’s already saved. Make any edits if required, enter an appropriate title and description and select the right category – drawing/craft/photos/writings etc. You can then add it to a themed gallery and you’re done!
One of the interesting things about using the Plowns app is that not only do you get to upload your children’s projects; you also get to see what others are making – across the world! You can get lots of new ideas from all categories for all age groups. The only con of this is that you may have to stock up on quite a lot of art and craft supplies!
What’s more, you can even make your kid a mini-celebrity! Plowns lets you show your appreciation for kids’ work by giving them stars or sharing encouraging comments. Now all these contribute to points, which can give your child a chance to feature on the leaderboard.
Benefits of using the Plowns App
- First and foremost, you don’t have to find place to store everything!
- All your kids work is in one place, and you can upload pictures as they grow
- You can add multiple children in one account
- The stars and comments offer kids more encouragement to create
- Checking out other projects gives ideas for new projects
- The category-wise classification makes it easy to search for projects
Verdict
This is a dream come true! I was considering taking photos on my phone and saving them there, but they would just get lost among all the other sundry pictures. However, Plowns makes sure that the kids’ work is in a special place dedicated for this purpose and can be easily found later. The ideas section is particularly useful during festivals like Diwali, where you get a lot of seasonal crafts and projects to try.
I remember we once made a solar system for my son’s school project. The two of us worked hard over it and it turned out pretty good. He good a good grade for it too, but once he brought it home, we were confused. It was too big to conveniently store away, and the thought of destroying it was too painful. Ultimately it just got tossed from corner to corner till it finally gave way and we threw it out. If we had Plowns then, we could have uploaded a picture right away and let the world get a taste of our creativity! Anyway, the next time we make something, you know where you can look it up!
Plowns app is currently only available on Android. For IOS & computer users, you can check out their web app – www.plowns.com/app
