How to make Sweet Potato Puree for Babies?
Ingredients:
- Sweet potato – 1 medium sized
- Cinnamon powder/ Elachi Powder – A pinch (optional)
Method:
1. Cut the sweet potato into 4 pieces, Indian sweet potatoes have lot of long fibers running through them so it will be difficult to cut them into small pieces.
2. Either boil or steam them in a pressure cooker for 2 to 3 whistles.
3. It can also be baked in oven at 400 F for 40 to 45 minutes. Cover the sweet potato with a tin foil and poke holes in it and bake it.
4. After steaming or baking , allow it to cool. Remove the skin and blend into a smooth puree in blender.
5. Add a pinch of cinnamon and mix well.
6. Serve lukewarm.
This recipe is suitable for babies above 6 months. Spices can be gradually be added in baby foods after 6 months itself and hence we have added cinnamon powder. While selecting sweet potatoes, Choose the ones that are firm to touch and without any black spots, decay or cracks.

Yes that is a problem with indian sweet potatoes, you can strain the puree before giving it to baby.
