It’s mango season, which translates into heaven for mango lovers!! At a time like this, it’s hard to resist a two year old’s persistent demands for some delicious mango kulfi, or mango dollies, as my son calls them.
This is an easy dessert with minimal ingredients although it might take a little longer. But all the time is completely worth it, since it was an instant hit with my family, being appreciated even by the elders!
Easy Homemade Mango Kulfi Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 litre milk
- 2 mangoes pureed
- 1/2 tin condensed milk
- 5 tbsp khoya/mawa
- Almond and Pistachio slivers(few)
Method:
1. Scoop the flesh out of the mangoes and puree.
2. Boil the milk till the quantity is reduced to half. Always reduce milk on a low flame to prevent it from burning. It took me around an hour to reduce the milk.
3. Add khoya and mix well.
4. Add the condensed milk and mix well. Simmer the mixture for fifteen minutes or till it thickens.
5. Add almond and pistachio slivers. Cool and add the mango puree and mix well.
6. Pour into kulfi moulds and freeze till set. Slice and serve chilled.
Mangoes are great for little kids, since they’re loaded with nutrients, and are super-yummy to boot! If they’re hesitant to try the fruit as it is, surprise them with a lovely mango dessert like this one!
