Curd Quinoa for Babies combines two of the healthiest ingredients – quinoa and curd. This nutritious recipe is gluten-free, fiber-rich and easy to digest.
Among the various foods touted to be super foods for health, one food you’re sure to have come across is quinoa. Quinoa is considered a grain, although it’s actually a seed, making it a pseudo-cereal. However, the classification doesn’t matter – it’s super healthy and nutritious, and that’s what counts!
Quinoa is also a great food for babies over 8 months of age. It is gluten- free, easy to digest and rich in nutrients and fiber. It makes a healthy addition to your baby’s diet in the form of porridge or as today’s recipe, curd quinoa. Curd quinoa is a simple and delicious recipe that’ll keep your baby full for a good while.
Curd Quinoa Recipe
Ingredients:
- Organic Quinoa – 1/4 cup
- Curd – 1/2 cup
Method:
- Rinse the Quinoa well in water.
- Soak it for 10-15 minutes in water.
- Drain the water fully and transfer the soaked quinoa to a sauce pan along with 1/2 cup of water.
- Heat the pan on medium to high flame and allow the water to boil.
- Now simmer and cover cook until all the water is evaporated and the quinoa is well cooked. On cooking properly, Quinoa becomes transparent and a coiled tail can be seen protruding.
- Allow the cooked quinoa to cool down completely before adding curd to it.
- Serve immediately.
Make sure you do not use very sour curd while making this dish for babies. You may add grated apple to this curd quinoa for a sweeter variation. For older babies, you can add grated vegetables like carrot and cucumber to the curd quinoa and temper it with mustard seeds and curry leaves, just like you do for curd rice. You may add pomegranate arils to the curd quinoa for toddlers and kids.
