We have added broken wheat instead of wheat flour so that baby gets to taste different textures, and not just purees. Broken wheat/dalia/bulgar wheat is a cracked form of whole wheat. It is rich in dietary fiber, which is crucial for improving the digestive function and bowel health of babies. This yummy halwa is sweetened with apple puree which adds to the flavor and nutritional quotient of the dish.

Neethi says
Amazing recipe for babies. Will try immediately.
I have one doubt though. As per the BRAT theory, apples, bananas, rice are stool binders. How true is this because being a South Indian, most of our food is rice and banana based and I want to avoid foods that’ll cause constipation to my baby.
Dr Hemapriya says
Thank you Neethi. Constipation causing foods might vary from baby to baby. Its better to follow a food diary to find the baby’s pulse and then proceed accordingly.
