In many homes now, it’s probably a flurry of getting ready for exams and both Moms and kids can’t wait till it’s over! Then there’s two months of vacation to look forward to, when kids can finally feel free and enjoy just being kids. As a parent, you want your kids to enjoy the summer, but you’d also like them to stay in touch with learning. We have the perfect solution that offers loads of fun as well as learning – WonderBoxx!
You’ve probably heard of WonderBoxx from our previous reviews of the Kiddo and Toddlo boxes here and here, and today we are reviewing a WonderBoxx Ginomo Box that goes by the theme ‘New Year’s Carnival‘. This box is from the Ginomo range, targeted at kids five and older.
WonderBoxx New Year’s Carnival Ginomo Box Review
My son couldn’t wait to open his Ginomo box, and had a hard time fending off his little sister! She had a lot of fun with her Toddlo Nutty Numbers box and was excited about this one too! The box was securely packed and is sturdy enough to store everything inside.
One of the biggest problems we usually face with toys that have small parts is that the most crucial ones are the first to go missing! However, with our Ginomo box, that problem was solved by individual, resealable bags, that are see through; so you can see what’s inside and open only the packet you need.
The New Year’s Carnival box has an overall celebration theme, and features various festivals from around the world. Here is a look at the activities included in the box:
1. Ball Toss Game
Recreate this popular fair-ground game in your own home! A foldable cardboard box has slots to toss in balls – I personally think that this’ll make for a fun party game or for when cousins are over.
2. Carousel
Everyone loves riding the horses on the carousel, and now you can build a miniature version that is bright and colorful as well!
3. Ferris Wheel
No carnival ground is complete without a Ferris wheel! This adorable Ferris wheel actually rotates and the cups move accordingly!
4. Magic Tricks
Kids of this age group are quite interested in magic and the New Year’s Carnival box has a few simple tricks they can use to impress their friends.
5. Mask
The mask is a lovely way to spend some time decorating and is a great introduction to the culture of Venice. It even has slots on the sides to tie it up for pretend play.
6. Handbook
The handbook gives more details about recreating a carnival and also contains a few activities for kids.
Our Experience with the WonderBoxx New Year’s Carnival Ginomo Box:
The activities are quite a good mix of different activities, without deviating from the central Carnival theme. Every game has both a fun element as well as something to learn from. The ball toss game is an excellent exercise in precision and a good way for high-energy kids to spend some time alone. Building the carousel was both fun and challenging, as we tried to balance the horses perfectly. It also makes for a pretty addition to the kids’ room!
The parts are quite high quality, as we’ve come to expect from WonderBoxx. The Ferris wheel and carousel, particularly, have a lot of play value and are sturdy enough to withstand the rough-handling. You can place little toys or figures of your own in the wheel and watch how the wheel rotates balancing each cup as it moves. The magic tricks are pretty basic, but perfect for this age.
Verdict
This box has a good mix of scientific experimentation and creative art. The magic tricks have their own charm, and the completed constructions are strong enough to play with. All in all, I’m pretty sure school going kids will enjoy this box, although younger ones will need some adult assistance. The Ginomo range also features other themes, so take a look around before ordering!
