What can I add to enhance the taste

Fruit purees or vegetable purees can be added as a natural sweetener for babies below 1 year. After 1 year, salt or jaggery can be added.

Hi hema… I am so glad to find your site suggested by my friend.. Your blogs are really helping us a lot..
I need few clarification to proceed to make poridges for my 8 month old baby..
Can you please let know how to dehusk bajra.. As I have never used bajra before, have no idea how to make these porridge powders to last good for a long time, and please do advice if washing and drying the grains is necessary in all poridges before they are roasted (since this process is not mentioned in the procedure)???
Dr Hemapriya says
Hi Neha,
You can check this video to know how to dehusk bajra https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CtHMj39MoJQ
If you have bought the grains in a closed packet from a reputed brand then there is no need to wash them or if you have bought it as loose packets in local grocery store, you can wash and dry them before using the grains
Hope this helped

hi are you sure we can use kambu just by mixing it with hot water? as far as i know gambu doesn’t get digested easily. soon am going to travel with my baby/ so i am searching for instant porridges
Dr Hemapriya says
Hi Niveda,
Since we are roasting and powdering, it will get cooked half by that, if you are still not sure, then roast the kambu powder again in a tawa till the aroma arises and let it cool and add to the other powders. Try this powder for your baby atleast 1 week before travelling. Each baby is different , what suits one baby may not suit the other, so always be careful while introducing new food. Hope this helped
Cheers
