When Kanika told me “I made Shahi Tukda” within 15 minutes today for my son as a dessert, I was like Huh!!! Shahi tukda in 15 minutes !! It can never be done !! Then when she narrated the recipe, “Wow, how easy it sounds!!!!”.
I had previously tried doing Shahi Tukda once, but my son wasn’t patient till the milk simmered and so I had to stop it middle and oh!!! shahi tukda was a disaster!!!!. Now, this easy recipe is really tempting to try it again 😉
How to make Shahi Tukda for Toddlers?
Ingredients:
- 2 slices of Brown bread
- 2 cups milk
- 3 tsp sugar
- 1 tsp custard powder
- Ghee for frying
Method:
1. Cut the bread slices into four.
2. Heat ghee in a pan and fry the slices till golden Brown.
3. Take milk in a pan and boil it.
4. Once the milk starts boiling, reduce the flame and reduce the milk to half.
5. Add sugar to the reduced milk.
6. Mix custard powder in mildly cold milk.
7. Add this paste to the boiling milk.
8. Once the milk gets thick turn off the gas.
9. Add bread pieces to milk and let it soak the milk.
10. Once it’s ready take it in a plate and serve.
11. Garnish with almond silvers.
I did it with a drop of Hershey’s chocolate sauce as a Friday treat!
Notes
Instead of frying the bread pieces in ghee, they can also be toasted in OTG or toaster.
