Barley Vegetable Khichdi for Babies
Ingredients:
- Organic Barley powder – ¼ cup
- Moong dal (soaked and drained)– 2 Tbsp
- Chopped Carrot – 1 Tbsp
- Chopped Potato – 1 Tbsp
- Green peas – 1 Tbsp
- Jeera powder – 1 Tsp
- Turmeric – ¼ Tsp
- Asafoetida (Hing) – A pinch
- Ghee – 1 Tsp

Method:
1. Heat ghee in a cooker.
2. Add Jeera powder.
3. Add carrot, potato and green peas and sauté for few seconds.
4. Add moongal and sauté.
5. Add Barley and saute.
6. Add turmeric and hing to it.
7. Add 1 cup of water. The water quantity can be increased or decreased as per the desired consistency.
8. Let it cook for 3-4 whistles.
9. Mash well.
10. Yummy Khichdi is ready to serve.
This protein and fiber rich khichdi can be given to 6 months+ babies. It can be introduced after introducing the basic foods like rice, dal etc. For elder babies and adults, the same recipe can be made with the whole barley.
