Pearl millet provides energy as they are rich in carbohydrates. They are also the best source of protein, vitamins B and A, calcium, iron, and zinc. Foxtail millet is rich in protein and fiber. Sorghum and oats are packed with fiber, antioxidants, and protein and flax seeds are a rich source of healthy fat, antioxidants, and fiber. Together, this is one amazing porridge for babies!
Multimillet Porridge for Babies
Ingredients:
- Pearl millet [Kambu] – 1 cup
- Foxtail Millet [Thinai]– 1 cup
- Sorghum [Cholam] – 1 cup
- Oats – 1/2 cup
- Flax seeds – 1/2 cup
Method:
1. Heat a pan
2. Dry roast each ingredient separately
3. Grind them in a Jar
4. It can be stored for 3-4 months in room temperature and can be refrigerated for 6 to 8 months.
How to make multi-millet porridge
1. Add 2 tbsp. of multi-millet porridge mix
2. Add 1 cup of water
3. Mix well without lumps
4. On medium, stir continuously till the porridge thickens.
5. Serve warm (feed the baby within 2 hours of preparation).
This multimillet porridge can be given to babies over 6 months, after introducing other basic foods. Make sure that the baby is familiar with each individual millet, before introducing the multi millet porridge. If you think making this porridge is too cumbersome, no problem!
