Custard is a soft, creamy dessert that’s ideal for young kids, but practically we often have difficulty finding a recipe that’s safe and healthy enough to feed our little moppets. I’ve also had trouble hunting for the right kind of recipe, and so we’ve gone ahead and created our own! Not just that, we’ve also made it healthier by adding oats to it! Check out this Oats Egg Custard that’s also a breakfast option for fussy toddlers!
Oats Egg Custard for Toddlers
Ingredients:
- 1 egg yolk
- 1 ripe banana, mashed
- 1 cup milk
- 2 tablespoon oats
- 1/2 teaspoon almond powder
Method:
1. In a mixing bowl, whisk egg yolk and mashed banana.
2. Add milk to it slowly, whisking to get a lump free mix.
3. Transfer the mix to a sauce pan and cook on medium heat for 3-5 minutes.
4. Add oats followed by almond powder and stir well.
5. Cook the custard for another 2-3 minutes, taking care that it does not catch the bottom. Serve warm.
You can powder the oats if you like. The banana makes the custard naturally sweet so you don’t need to add another sweetener. You can also try substituting the almond powder with Dry Fruits Powder for that nutty flavor. So the next time the family is enjoying dessert, your little one doesn’t have to feel left out!
