Looking to spice up your little one’s mealtime? How about trying something delicious and nutritious like Green Peas and Potato Puree? It’s a fantastic way to introduce vegetables to babies aged 6 months and above.
Many parents opt for root vegetables due to their mild taste, creamy texture, and lower likelihood of allergies. However, if your baby is getting tired of the same old potato puree or sweet potato puree, it’s time to add a little twist! By incorporating green peas into the mix, you’ll not only bring a burst of flavor but also provide additional nutritional benefits.
The best part? This recipe is incredibly simple, requiring just three ingredients. Get ready to watch your little one’s taste buds come alive as you rejuvenate their mealtime with this delightful puree!
Green Peas and Potato Puree for Babies
Ingredients:
1 large or 2 small Potatoes
Handful of Green Peas
Salt to taste ( optional)
Instructions:
1. Peel the potatoes and roughly chop them into small chunks.
2. Take the chopped potatoes and washed green peas in a steel bowl. Add ½ tsp salt ( if using) to the veggies at this stage.
3. Add about 2 cups of water to a pressure cooker. Place this bowl in the cooker and pressure-cook the veggies for 2 whistles. Wait for the pressure to release naturally before opening the lid.
4. Transfer the cooked potatoes and green peas in a grinder jar with 1 cup of boiled water and pulse to a smooth puree. Add more water to adjust the required consistency.
5. Serve warm.
With just three ingredients, and two steps, this is an incredibly easy recipe! Peas are very nutritious for growing babies, with a single cup containing more protein than a tablespoon of peanut butter! Peas are also rich in other minerals like calcium and iron along with essential Vitamins A and C. If your baby is ready, you can also add a small sprinkle of organic spices to improve the flavor and do without the salt. So go ahead and let your baby enjoy a lovely, nutritious green peas and potato puree for dinner!

Hi Hema, I am giving my daughter fruits (apple, chikoo) and vegetable (beet, carrot, tomato, pumpkin, sweet potato) purees since 6 months. Now she will be 9 months on 6 March. After boiling and grinding we sieve the mixture and give to her. Can I stop doing that now and start giving her purees directly after grinding? We do add ghee, jeera powder n curry leaves for tempering. Is there anything more that can be used?
Dr Hemapriya says
Hi Pooja,
Try not to always grind food for the baby as her digestive system might get used to it. Gradually change the consistency from ground to mashed and so on. You can also give small pieces of boiled fruits and vegetables as finger foods. Yes, tempering of food is okay.

I gave potato & fresh puree to my baby. He just loved.
Thanks to Dr. Hema.
My question is: Can we keep the left over purees in refrigerator & give them to our toddlers the next day after microwaving? Is that safe for babies?
pr says
Hi Shubhi,
Happy that your baby enjoyed the recipe 🙂 It’s better if you can give fresh fruit purees to your baby dear.
